Feed Your Bees Or They Could Starve

organic garden May 01, 2019

It is the time of year when your bees most likely will starve if you don't give them food.  They have depleted their stores of honey.  It is warm one day and snow and freezing the next.  Crazy weather!

My bees have lots of honey left, but I didn't want to take any chances as they can go through their stores of honey in just days.

There is no nectar or pollen yet, so they depend on us to help them out.

Here is my recipe using organic ingredients.

4 cups of organic cane sugar

3 ounces of filtered water

1/4 tsp of Himalayan Pink Crystal Salt

2 drops organic Lemongrass essential oil.

When it gets semi-hard, you score it with a knife.

I got into my hive and placed the sugar on the hive and they love it!

I tasted it too, and I'm telling you I wouldn't mind eating it either, it was delicious!

I don't know if you can see, but the bees started sucking it down as soon as I put it on the hive.  So many bees, in fact, you can hardly see the sugar.

I think they were starving and I'm so glad I did feed them as we are expecting yet ANOTHER cold spell. I can sleep well knowing my sweet bees are well fed.

Everyone in Tennessee is so ready for warmer weather and I'm ready to dig in some dirt!
